The Montreal Spartan Sprint made its return to Ski Morin Heights for the first time since 2013 for the opening Canadian Spartan Race of the 2019 season. This is Adam Kwitko reporting for Obstacle Racing Media from the North Montreal Spartan sprint weekend. The weekend began with Saturday’s men’s elite heat just after 8:30am followed shortly after by the women’s elite heat. Age group waves followed between 8:45 and 9:15. Then open heats departed from 9:30 through 2pm. A hurricane heat went down Saturday evening. Then another full day of racing on Sunday.
The course measured 5.4KMs or 3.4 miles according to my Suunto Spartan GPS watch with 322 meters or 1056 feet of vertical gain on up and down try trails, muddy trails and plenty of snow.
All finishers received a black Spartan Sprint tech T and Spartan Sprint finisher’s medal with magnetic trifecta pie piece.
